When you need Word as a PDF
Résumés, work histories, reports and notices often have to be submitted or shared as PDFs. A PDF is less likely to lose its layout on someone else’s device or software, and it’s harder to change by accident.
Two ways to save
Download PDF (quick)
Save a PDF with one tap. It looks just like the preview, and the text can be selected and searched (the document’s text is laid invisibly over each page image).
Save as PDF with print (high quality)
Uses your browser’s print feature to create a sharp PDF with selectable text. When the print screen opens, choose “Save as PDF” as the printer or destination. On iPhone, share the preview and choose “Save to Files”. This is the recommended option for documents you’ll submit.
About layout
Pages follow the page breaks set in Word. Fonts your device doesn’t have are replaced with similar ones, so line breaks and spacing may differ slightly from Word. Check the preview before converting, and check important documents again after downloading.
Supported files
The “.docx” format from Word 2007 and later is supported. For older “.doc” files, open them in Word and save them as “.docx” first. Password-protected Word files can’t be converted.
Related tools
Combine the PDF with other documents, make it smaller, or add a password.
Your files are never uploaded
Your Word file isn’t uploaded to a server; it’s converted to PDF in your browser. Documents with personal information, such as résumés, are never sent anywhere.
