When you need a PDF as Word
- Edit and reuse the text of a PDF you received
- Quote or edit text from a document you only have as a PDF
- Rebuild a PDF form as a Word template
- Review and share a PDF using Word’s comments
Two conversion types
Editable text
Extracts the text in the PDF and places it as Word paragraphs. Lines are joined into paragraphs, large text becomes bold headings, and centered lines stay centered. A page break is added after each PDF page.
Tables with ruled lines become real Word tables (merged cells included). Tables without lines, images, columns and exact positions aren’t reproduced. Best when you want to edit or reuse the text.
Keep the layout
Places each PDF page into Word as an image. It looks exactly like the PDF, but the text can’t be edited. Best for assembling documents in Word or adding comments.
Scanned PDFs
Scanned PDFs and PDFs made from photos are images, so they contain no text data, and “Editable text” will find almost nothing. In that case, read the text with OCR, or use “Keep the layout”.
About accuracy
PDF is designed to preserve exactly how a page looks, and it usually doesn’t store Word-style paragraphs. So no tool can perfectly turn a PDF back into the original document. This tool focuses on extracting readable text.
Vertical Japanese PDFs are read column by column, right to left. Check and adjust the result in Word.
